Aitor Mendilibar is a New York-based filmmaker and cinematographer. He is originally from Basque Country, where he received degrees in computer science, telecommunications, and audio/visual production.
In 2012, he moved to New York City to study documentary filmmaking at New York Film Academy. Since graduating he has worked as a cinematographer for narrative films, documentaries, commercials, music videos, live performances, among other projects. His first feature film as a director of photography (PROM KING, 2010) won the New Vision Award at Cinequest Film Festival. He has worked with Oscar nominated director and producer Oren Jacoby and award winning choreographers Reggie Wilson, Raja Feather Kelly and Jonah Bokaer. He also creates his own content and collaborates with artists across genres. Aitor is currently working on his second short film as a director (IRTEN BARRURA) which is in post-production and could be released as early as late 2020. He is also the co-founder and former bass player of the Basque punk rock band the Disorders, that played for 10 years and produced two studio albums. After the Disorders split in 2011, Aitor co-founded the punk rock band The Wilsons in 2014 for which he currently plays the bass.
